In Windows eight.1 there are several options to completely Close an app. Refer to these steps and check.
ane. Keyboard: Printing the Alt+F4 keys.

My goal is not to have to apply Task Manager to shut it.
When I employ Alt+F4, the apps doesn't prove when I motion the mouse pointer to the upper left of the.
But, the app remains in Chore Manager.
When I drag the app to the bottom it closes form the upper correct and is removed from the Chore Manager.
As well, when I become to Change PC Settings it remains in memory even when I close information technology, Merely, Change PC Settings
is nevertheless in TaskManager but it doesn't evidence up when I move the curser to the upper left of the Get-go screen.
I'm not going to check every app tot see if they do this.
My question Is, why did they go through trouble of placing a Shut (X) button on the pinnacle of the apps when
It doesn't close the app????
So far the only ane that works is dragging to the lesser.
I meant the upper left in my message.
I guess I don't know my left from my right. Duh.

I realize that this event is not seen as a problem by Microsoft, simply merely a alter in the way that Windows operates. In theory, I actually like the idea, but I remember it has been extremely poorly executed. If Microsoft wants to manage arrangement memory, it should exist done in a way that has no noticeable system affect. In this area, Microsoft has failed. Suspending apps that I cull to leave open is a brilliant idea, but append should mean append and close should hateful close. The user should ultimately have command, not the OS.

James,
You can close an app using ALT+SPACEBAR+C in that club, or past dragging information technology to the bottom of the screen and waiting for information technology to flip over.
Just I agree with you that having the "Close" push merely suspending the app is a contradiction in terms.

Information technology's odd.
When I use the "X" the app doesn't prove upwards[ n the up[per left when I moved the mouse poinnter there but it ius notwithstanding in retentiveness according to Task Manager.
This gives the false impression that the app closed.

I have to contradict myself now! I opened Chore Managing director to check something else and plant the figurer (the green ane) I closed with ALT+Spacebar+C still there and listed as "Suspended".
And so it looks now like the only fashion of closing an app now is past dragging it to the bottom of the screen and waiting for it to flip, or by hitting Alt+F4.
So somebody pray tell me what the signal was of placing the blackness bar at the top in the kickoff place?
